New Research Oral Paper or Poster - Submission Guidelines
- Oral Papers or Posters are intended for the presentation of new research data or other scholarly work. Oral Papers allow for a brief overview of new research findings (15 min overall: 10 minutes of presentation and 5 minutes for questions). Posters allow the presenter(s) the opportunity to describe and discuss their project individually with colleagues during the Poster Session. The Conference Committee may recommend that a paper submission be presented as a poster, or vice versa.
- The presenting author must submit one abstract.
- Each abstract must not exceed 250 words. Do not include references or learning objectives in the word count.
- The abstract must be organized according to the following headings: Introduction, Methods, Results, Conclusions.
- The abstract must include 3 learning objectives.
- The abstract must include 2-5 references.
- The scholarly and evidence-based nature of the work must be evident in the abstracts, as these qualities will be strongly considered by reviewers.
- Use appropriate scientific tense consistently.
- Only generic names for medications (not trade names) should be included.
- Names of diagnoses, structured interviews, rating scales, etc., should be introduced by the full name prior to using abbreviations (e.g., “attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder” first and “ADHD” thereafter).
- The submission must not have been presented previously at another national or international conference.
- If the submission involves a drug trial or another commercial product, the first author and the presenting author (usually the same individual) must be affiliated with an academic institution and must not be the owner or an employee of the commercial company in question.
