Dear Colleagues,
We invite you to respond to the CACAP 46th Annual Meeting Call for Abstracts. The meeting will be held at the Sheraton Wall Centre in Vancouver, BC from May 16 -19 2027.
The theme is "Brain, Mind and Body: Integrated Perspectives in Child and Adolescent Mental Health".
We are soliciting material that address heterogeneity in the development, presentation, treatment response and course of psychiatric illness in children and adolescents.
We also encourage submissions that address CACAP’s broad-based goals to advance knowledge in clinical research, education, and advocacy.
Below are listed the types of submissions for the 2027 conference. Please note that Poster presentations are considered as important as oral presentations, as we value all types of presentations equally. The Conference Scientific Committee may choose to move certain poster submissions to oral presentations so that key submissions reach a wider audience.
This meeting program will be intellectually stimulating and scientifically exciting. We look forward to your participation!

Research Symposia present new research data on related topics, with an overarching theme that is discussed by the chair. The new research should be described with reference to the relevant literature. Two or three presentations should be included, and it is permissible but not required for the chair to give one of these presentations. Approximately one-quarter of the time should be devoted to questions and discussion.
Academic and/or Clinical Perspectives generally do not present new research data, but provide complementary or opposing perspectives on a pertinent clinical, educational or advocacy issue that is introduced by the chair. The information presented should be scholarly and evidence-based, with reference to the relevant literature. Two or three presentations should be included, and it is permissible but not required for the chair to give one of these presentations. Approximately one-quarter of the time should be devoted to questions and discussion.
Workshops should be interactive and provide instruction in a set of clinical, research, or educational skills. The information presented should be scholarly and evidence-based, with reference to the relevant literature. Workshops may be led by one or more presenters.
A Special Interest Study Group (SISG) is an opportunity for networking and discussion among attendees who share a particular practice setting or academic interest. The chair is expected to provide learning objectives for the session, introduce the topic, and facilitate discussion.
Oral Papers or Posters are intended for the presentation of new research data or other scholarly work. Oral Papers allow for a brief overview of new research findings (15 min: 10 minutes of presentation and 5 minutes for questions). Posters allow the presenter(s) the opportunity to describe and discuss their project individually with colleagues during the Poster Session. The Conference Committee may recommend that a paper submission be presented as a poster, or vice versa.
General Abstract Submission Guidelines
- Each applicant may only submit a TOTAL of two (2) abstracts as primary author.
- Submissions may be in either English or French.
- The abstract content itself needs to be provided in both languages, including the learning objectives (for sub-abstract as well if relevant).
- Accepted presentations may be delivered in either language (or a combination of the two), but simultaneous translation will not be provided.
If you would like to be considered for either an oral or poster presentation, please submit your application under “Oral presentation”. Abstracts submitted as oral presentations will automatically also be considered for a poster presentation.
CACAP Member-in-training Award
We would like to especially encourage submissions from CACAP Members-in-Training. MITs are eligible for travel bursaries of $500. These bursaries will be awarded to a select number of MITs based on a shortlist of top-rated abstract submissions.
Please note that only CACAP Members are eligible for awards. Membership status must be confirmed by the time submission results are announced in December 2026.
All accepted abstract submissions from residents who are CACAP members-in-training will be considered automatically for Resident Travel and Best Scientific Presentation Awards.
